So for our most recent adventure we asked my good friend Aisha if we could join her family and friends for an evening during Ramadan when they break their fast, a meal that is known as Iftar. I met Aisha when we started Superette a couple of years ago and she’s awesome, just ridiculously special. Good lord I’ve been trying to write this godforsaken article for quite some time now. I must have started it and restarted it around, let’s see…. 7 times now. You see the thing is we were with great people; the place was great; I thought the food was great; the music was awesome; the other patrons were great… But the owners weren’t as welcoming as the other places we’ve been to. And so Litte Al and I first struggled to decide whether or not we should write about the place, and once we had decided that we would I’m now struggling to get the writing done. So in celebration of the New World order, a reason to celebrate if ever there was one, we decided on Chinese. There is this awesome place in Sea Point that I’ve been going to for a couple years now and when we first started this ‘let’s take photos and write shit’ gig, it was one of the first places we thought to review. The restaurant is called Hesheng and if appearances were anything to go by you wouldn’t expect too much of their 3 by 2 kitchen; the seating area is all about faux leather table cloths… Keep Reading This Entry…
